BLISTERS AND BLACK TOENAILS

Monday Musings: Back into the Hills

This past weekend G and I went out to Muskoka to do Spin the Lakes, something that is becoming an annual tradition with our friends.  Last year,I was just getting back on my bike after about 3 weeks off due to my injury. I couldn't run but I could ride, so I was happy to be able to do something. I had signed up for Spin the Lakes well before I got injured and the original plan was to race it. That...

May Runfessions

If you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen this post yesterday.  I figured it was time to Runfess, so I'm linking up with Marcia's Healthy Slice for some Runfessions.

What do I have to runfess about this month?

Well.......

Running and I are currently not really getting along and I suspect it's because I've neglected my strength and physio work these past two months. I'm all over my athletes...

Monday Musings: The Final Days

Well, I've gone from weeks left to just days now. We've met so many great people here over the last two months, I'm definitely going to miss them. I'm REALLY going to miss the weather and the fact that I can just walk outside with my bike and start riding without having to deal with much in the way of traffic. The two month stay was going to be a test to see if we'd like being here and the answer...

Monday Musings: 3 Weeks Left

I look at this title and find it hard to believe. It's funny when you say you're going away for three weeks it seems like such a long time but when you've been somewhere for a while and you realize you have three weeks left, it doesn't seem THAT long. Why is that??? Seriously, our time here has flown by so quickly. We are planning on coming back next year for sure and we may even look at coming...

Monday Musings: Random Observations

Well it took me a week but I finally got my race report done.   Staying inside to write when the weather has been sunny and warm is a challenge.   I know, I know, I'll shut up.  I think all my friends back in Toronto hate me right now.   I don't blame them.  I've seen all the pictures on Facebook.  It's been a messy few days.

It's safe to say that G and I are totally settled in our wee little...

Monday Musings: One Week In

Here we are, Monday again. We've officially been here for just over a week and I can safely say it feels like longer (not in a bad way!) We settled into somewhat of a routine fairly quickly and I'm finally figuring out where things are. The last time we were here, I kept getting so turned around in terms of directions and where everything was located. This time I seem to have my head on a bit...

Farewell Summer + Moving On

Hi!

I'm BACK!

Stage one of Operation Florida is done. Last Saturday we said goodbye to the home we lovingly rebuilt just over 4 years ago. We had spent a total of 12 years in that house. To say that we're going to miss it, would be an understatement. I had a really tough day. I would burst in to tears at the drop of a hat. I'm still a little emotional when people ask how the move went (it went...

250km on Two Wheels + An Update

Well, where do I start? So much has happened since my last post. The big one being: WE SOLD OUR HOUSE! Yahoo! And we bought a new one. Double Yahoo!!! Unfortunately we couldn't get the closing we wanted on the new house so we had to find a place to live for a month. We've found a furnished rental so now we have to start packing! This is one reason why I've been so darn quiet. I've spent so much...

It's All About The Bike - Weekly Wrap

Happy Sunday and Happy Early Fourth of July to my American readers! I hope you're all enjoying a glorious long weekend. We also had a long weekend this weekend. It was Canada Day on July 1st. The studio also happens to be closed tomorrow so I don't have to go back in to work until Tuesday. It's been a nice long vacation as I've been off for over a week. It seems like a lot longer. That's...

The Ultimate Coffee Date - July is Here

Howdy!  I'm linking up with Deborah,  Lynda and Coco for the July edition of their Ultimate Coffee Date.  I promised myself I'd get back to regular blogging this month so here we go!

If we were having coffee, I'd tell you that I've actually adjusted to NOT having running in my life. Do I miss it? Of course. But I don't feel LOST without it like I did a couple of months ago. Probably because I've...

Better than Expected: 2015 Year In Review

How is it almost the end of the year already? This year absolutely FLEW by. To be honest I'm happy to see the end of this year. It wasn't awesome, but it wasn't horrible either - It was just kinda "meh". It wasn't a HECK YEAH kind of year like some of my previous years (2013 in particular) I did get to race a fair bit this year but I never raced at 100%. There was always some kind of niggle or...

Tri Talk Tuesday - OFF SEASON

Welcome back Tri Talk Tuesday peeps!  We're now back to monthly posts since most of us are heading into our off season.  Which is why Courtney, Cynthia and I thought it would be great to chat about the Off Season.   So, that's what today's theme is!

The off season is different for everyone. Some people take a few weeks off, some people take a few months off. The length of time I take off...
