BLISTERS AND BLACK TOENAILS

MGCC Ladies Take on the Adirondacks

I had this post almost all ready to last week but was waiting on pics from our guide.  Sadly I have only gotten a couple of shots from the 5 days we were there.  So once those come, you can expect a "Wordless Wednesday" post, ha ha.

I've been to two training camps, both led by coaches that were coaching me. They are an excellent way to hone your skills as well as socialize with like minded people....

Monday Musings: Short and Sweet

Have you ever gone on a trip that seemed to be longer than it was but also went by too fast? I know that sounds weird but I can't think of any other way to explain this past "long weekend". I went to Lake Placid and spent 5 days with 12 other likeminded women that I had never met before. In fact most of the women there didn't know each other. Groups like that can go two ways, either everyone gets...

Monday Musings: Adventure is calling!

I hope everyone had an awesome weekend. It was a big race weekend here in the GTA with the Goodlife Marathon and the Mississauga Marathon taking place yesterday. The weather didn't look awesome but it turned out to be some pretty darn good racing conditions. Cold, but good. I had athletes racing in both races. Everyone had good races, with one of my athletes completing her first marathon! (YAY...

Monday Musings: It's MAY!

Yesterday that Justin Timberlake meme was all over my FB feed and it had me wondering what the heck happened to April. Florida seems so far away. I don't remember what HOT feels like. Ok maybe that's a bit dramatic, it was hot last Sunday. But I haven't ridden in hot weather since Florida. I can't wait for the day I don't have to wear an extra layer or full fingered gloves on the bike. Yesterday...

Farewell Summer + Moving On

Hi!

I'm BACK!

Stage one of Operation Florida is done. Last Saturday we said goodbye to the home we lovingly rebuilt just over 4 years ago. We had spent a total of 12 years in that house. To say that we're going to miss it, would be an understatement. I had a really tough day. I would burst in to tears at the drop of a hat. I'm still a little emotional when people ask how the move went (it went...

Better than Expected: 2015 Year In Review

How is it almost the end of the year already? This year absolutely FLEW by. To be honest I'm happy to see the end of this year. It wasn't awesome, but it wasn't horrible either - It was just kinda "meh". It wasn't a HECK YEAH kind of year like some of my previous years (2013 in particular) I did get to race a fair bit this year but I never raced at 100%. There was always some kind of niggle or...

2016: Year of the Bike

As a triathlete, most of the time I train with other triathletes, especially when it comes to riding.  Pack riding was something that didn't really appeal to me, mainly because in a race, you can't draft so why on earth would you train like that?  It should be just you and the open road.  Right?

I have since learned the error of my ways. Thanks to the suggestion of my wonderful husband (who is...

Goings On and 2016 Plans

It's been a while since I've taken the time to sit down and write a "this is where things are at" kinda post.  So.  Here it is.  I feel like I am getting to a much better place physically and mentally.  When my back / sciatic issues started in May, I felt like I had just kind of dealt with one hurdle (my knees), only to have to deal with another.  It reallydid a number on my psyche. I tried to...
