Off Season Strength Training - Part One

If you’re in the northern hemisphere, chances are your triathlon season is done, or very close to being so.   Your weekly training volume should be decreasing as should the intensity of your workouts.    This lighter load in training volume is the perfect time to either increase your strength sessions, or, if you’re like the majority of triathletes I know, add it back into your routine.

As I...

Monday Musings: A Magical Week

Happy Monday!

The dust has settled and the house is quiet once again.  This past week was a big one!  We hosted some elite triathletes for the weekend, I went to Disney for the first time and I celebrated another trip around the sun.

Last December, one of our coaches here, Sarah McClarty, posted in the Clermont Triathletes FB group that another USAT coach was looking for a home stay for 3 athletes...

2017: You Were a Good One

Happy New Year!

I'm still alive! I know I've been M.I.A these last couple of months but I haven't felt like I've had much to share and truth be told, I've been busy focusing on building my coaching business and working on a bit of side hustle as well (more on that down the road). I've been spending more time on Instagram, telling snippets of stories there. But I will come back to blogging in 2018.

Maintaining Fitness in the Off Season

For many beginner triathletes, the off season is a funny place. What does off season mean?  Do you stop training?  How much rest is too much?  How do I structure my training?  These are some of the questions I've gotten as a coach and I will do my best to tackle them in this post.

I know when I started out in triathlon, after my last race of the season, I stopped training completely for at least a...

Monday Musings: Where is summer going?

Happy Monday! And hello last day of July. What the what??? Yup, it's the first day of August tomorrow. Summer is flying by. I'm pretty sure I say that every year. The funny thing is that we haven't over scheduled ourselves this summer. In previous summers we've raced almost every weekend. Last year that didn't happen at all so I figured we'd have the itch to do that again but not so. I think the...

Monday Musings: Summer is HERE

Hey! It's finally HOT! YEAH! I think everyone has been waiting for this since oh, I don't know, MAY?? We've had multiple days of sunshine and multiple days of heat and, NO RAIN. That's been the big stumbling block this spring. I've missed more Morning Glory rides this year compared to last year due to questionable weather. It's been two weeks since I've done any morning rides with them. I had high...

Monday Musings: T-Minus 3 weeks

Oh hello June!  Here we are half way through 2017.  Time is just whizzing by.  We have THREE weeks left until Tremblant!  THREE.  Holy crapamole.   We've been occasionally checking the water temperature in Lac Tremblant and a couple of weeks ago it was a balmy 6 degrees celsius.  Thankfully it's now gone up to 15.2which means that hopefully in another 3 weeks it's closer to 18 degrees which would...

May Runfessions

If you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen this post yesterday.  I figured it was time to Runfess, so I'm linking up with Marcia's Healthy Slice for some Runfessions.

What do I have to runfess about this month?

Well.......

Running and I are currently not really getting along and I suspect it's because I've neglected my strength and physio work these past two months. I'm all over my athletes...

Monday Musings: The Final Days

Well, I've gone from weeks left to just days now. We've met so many great people here over the last two months, I'm definitely going to miss them. I'm REALLY going to miss the weather and the fact that I can just walk outside with my bike and start riding without having to deal with much in the way of traffic. The two month stay was going to be a test to see if we'd like being here and the answer...

Monday Musings: Birthday Week & A Sneak Peek

Hey hey hey, it's Mon-DAY and I cannot believe that we've been here for a MONTH already! February has pretty much flown by. Normally I'm not a big fan of February but I'm not gonna lie, I'm LOVING February this year. We're really enjoying the weather, the people and the fact that we can hop on our bikes and ride right from our front door. G said he thinks he could live here. I'm not sure I could,...

Boogity Boogity Boogity - I Went Racing! The Daytona Beach Half Marathon

I'm just going to put this right here so folks that don't know Nascar understand where I got the title from.

Now that I've cleared that up, can I just say THAT I'M SO DARN EXCITED I FINALLY GET TO WRITE A RACE RECAP!

Just a little.  Ha.

I had read about this race a few years ago and told G that if we were ever planning on going to Daytona, I wanted to do this race. Coincidentally it was happening...

What I've Tried Wednesday: Review of the On Cloudflow

Disclaimer - I was given a pair of the On Cloudflows in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.  All opinions are my own.

In a market saturated with choice, many running shoe companies are thinking outside the box to develop a trademarked technology. One that brings consumers a better or unique running experience and that is immediately associated with their brand. Newton comes to mind with their...
